It’s almost too exciting!!
We’re here. Port Pendennis marina in Falmouth waiting for the Start of the race on Sunday. We sailed all the way down from Portland Yesterday (Wednesday 27th May) in one go The sailing was fantastic across Lyme Bay, but the wind dropped just after we had passed south of Salcombe , so it

was on with the engine for most of the second half, finally arriving in Falmouth at about 0100 this morning. That just added to the adrenaline, it’s always exciting to arrive for the first time (for Martyn anyway) in the dark. Mark has been here before and the marks and lights on the way in were easy to pick out to navigate into the marina.
Over the early Spring, Mark has been working hard to get the yacht ready, including having the coppercoat antifoul repaired, having the rudder checked for security and getting a rating certificate from the RORC (The Royal Ocean Racing Club).
We also did a qualifying passage from Portland the Le Havre in April, ready for the Triangle race and that needed to be at least 125 nautical miles with an overnight segment. That was a quick trip there and back again and helped us understand how to handle the boat in winds and seas that cruising sailors wouldn’t normally venture out in. We felt ready for the race after that.

So it will be getting on with the final fiddling and finishing the boat jobs ready for registration opening tomorrow morning.
